30th July 2023
Here we are at the end of July and it would seem – fingers crossed – that the weather has sorted itself out and finally settled into what should be expected for this time of the year.
Not that the beginning of the week had seen any change. Another very hot day on Monday saw temperatures once more up to the mid 30’s, but after another such day on Tuesday we were treated to a brief storm in the evening. After this it was windy, and after that it was noticeably cooler. Could this be a sign of things to come?
Yes. Wednesday and Thursday were refreshingly cool, by which I mean 25°, and there was air moving, and air that left you feeling reinvigorated rather than in need of a lie down with a damp cloth over your forehead. The temperature was creeping up again by Friday, around 30°, which is standard summer fare, so nothing that we couldn’t handle, especially given our recent acclimatization. Moreover, there was a clarity to the air, which was much less oppressive, but you don’t just have to take our word for it. Our weather monitor showed a distinct drop in the humidity, which is always a good sign.

And what else can I tell you. Not much. After all the excitement at the end of last week this one has been remarkable in its mundanity. I contacted the kennels on Monday and Bella and Harry are booked in for their weekend away the same time we go to Pesaro. Today, though, we did do something that has been held in abeyance due to firstly rain and then heat, which is take our first walk on Porto San Giorgio beach. Breakfast at Funari, blue skies and sunshine as we walked along the edge of the sea (and sometimes splashing through it) and not a care in the world. What could be better? Well, Maria Teresa pasta shop being open when we called in for some cannelloni for lunch, but it wasn’t. It seems that they might have gone on holiday – some people just have no consideration.
